Client:

City of Palm Springs

Project Name/Assignment:

The Palm Springs Theater Renovation

Challenges:

The Stage of this Historic Palm Springs Landmark has showcased live performances by Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope and Dean Martin. Every year this theater is utilized by the Palm Springs International Film Festival. With over 135,000 attendees, it is one of the largest film festivals in North America. Known for its star-studded, black tie awards gala, honorees have included Daniel Day Lewis, Cate Blanchett, George Clooney, Ron Howard, Leonardo DiCaprio, Helen Mirren and many more.

Since the building is a Historical Landmark, great care has to be taken in the planning to renovate the entire venue with a contemporary audio-visual system.

Solutions:

Digital Networks Group has been a trusted advisor and audio-visual systems integrator for the City’s audio-visual needs for many years, and therefore selected DNG as the design/build systems integrator for this historic undertaking. DNG worked closely with the City’s Information Technology & Facilities team, the theater’s on-site manager, the architectural firm of Ruhnau Ruhnau and Clarke, and a theater consultant hired by the City of Palm Springs. Now completed, the newly implemented audio/visual system boasts a new 12,000 lumen HD projector, a Yamaha sound mixer with Dante control for analog and digital inputs, wireless microphones, 10” touch screen control, and a back-stage A’V system with two 7K HD projectors for background visual effects.
